Shiggy: 4.5 Directions to this Saturday's Trail Take 9A to Baymeadows Rd and head East (turn left on Baymeadows Rd if coming from Butler Blvd). Turn right on R. G. Skinner Pkwy, and one block later turn right again on R. G. Skinner Pkwy. Confusing, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. Follow this road until it turns into a dirt road and there will be plenty of parking on the left hand side. FYI, the road is not on Google Maps (unless you're using your iPhone). But here's a link and it DOES show on Yahoo Maps Satellite View. Now, about the trail itself. We're actually downgrading this trail to a 4 from a 4.5 -- I know, I know....not what you'd normally come to expect from a Cotton Panel and Unibanger trail. But, alas, that's the way it is. What I promise: No water deeper than 3.5 feet (not meters) deep. Very little shoe-sucking mud. Less than 4 miles. I didn't see any gators. In fact, I didn't even see a snake. (I did see Bambi bouncing around out there though.) So, at this point you're probably saying, "CottonBanger has really lost it. They're definitely old now and washed up." Well, that may be so. But I'll tell you that this trail was probably the most fun I've had while on trail, almost ever, in Jax. Bring: dry bag, BUG SPRAY and sense of adventure. Any other questions? Okay wankers, here's the skinny for Saturday's first EVER JaxH3 "Trash" - Triahtlon (bike, run, swim) hash! What's a Trash, you ask? Well, we've never heard of one of these before either, so we're kinda wingin' it. We're gonna start out with a "bash-" a bike hash. This will be around 10 miles long with a beer check and an EC stop. It'll be on terrain conducive to almost any kinda bike (No HIV, your unicycle without a seat won't work...GAY! :-). This part of the trail will be all roadwork, so bring any bike you can get your paws on, air up the rubber, and come on! After the bash, we'll transition to standard hash gear and proceed on a mondo-shiggy trail laid primarily by lovely cohare, and Triathlete-ette extraordinaire, Vadryna. This trail probably won't get you actually killed, but there will be great shiggy and water over your head (even over AIDS' head...so you know it's deep! :-). TIME: 2:00 pm hst START: Parking lot at 4804 Kernan Bvd S - the building says "Alumni Hall" DERECTIONS: From JTB, go North on Kernan Bvd - the building is about 3/4 of a mile on the left, just past the intersection of First Coast Tech Parkway.
